Yes, I’m so excited, finally after 3 years. I asked and prayed and it finally happened we are getting a kitten, a siamese kitten, woohoo. I know you thought I was pregnant, but no not happening, next best thing though hehe. I’ve wanted a kitten ever since I was living in the UK, but I am happy I waited until I was back in the USA. I’m in a great relationship, 4 years into it, we are engaged to be married, and now we got our first pet, it’s technically first pet, but when I got together with William, he had a dog already, he passed in the first year together, but now 4th year into being together, we finally decided it was time!!
I am more than excited. I had been looking on petfinder, and that is where I found her, wait or was it eBay classified, I think it’s linked to each other in some way, but thing is I found her, she does not have a name yet, she isn’t even here yet, but she was born on September 10, 2013, she is female seal point siamese, she is the cutest ever. We are going to see her this week, depending on when it’s a good time for the current owners. We are adopting her. Let me show you a few pictures of her, that the listing had, and the ones I fell in love with.
There is so much to do, like kitten protect the house lol, William is going to like that NOT! Lol. He’ll leave it to me to do haha. Then buy things needed like:
Food – Will need to get what she is being already fed.
Food Bowls – They say stainless steel or ceramic bowls are best and oval shaped as cats don’t like their whiskers hitting the edges, and the water bowl should be larger than the food bowl.
Litter Box – Large cat litter box w/cover, I prefer with box, gives them privacy lol. Plus it’s good to get a large size so they grow and can still use it. I’m considering getting an automatic littler box from https://meowkai.com/best-automatic-litter-box/, the convenience seems to be worth the investment.
Scooper – Can’t forget the scooper lol
Litter – For kittens 8 weeks and younger it’s good not to use clumping litter, as kittens 8 weeks and younger are in a taste phase and can eat it. But when she is ready we will see in to getting clumping litter, I have been recommended Dr. Elsey’s kitten attract litter.
Treats – For kittens they recommend freeze dried chicken, when they get older they can go on to more adult treats.
Scratching Post – cheering your cat up can be quite a challenging task, especially with the attention we’d have to give them. It is vital to introduce cat essentials like scratching posts which’d give them a feeling of being in their natural home. Vertical scratching post will help kitten remove the outer sheath for nails to grow. cheering your cat up can be quite a challenging task, especially with the attention we’d have to give them. Toys – Kittens love to play, so toys are important, like balls w/bells and teaser wands, as they help with bonding.
Bedding – I’m still debating about what kind to get, I kind of prefer the kind with walls, so they can snuggle up to the sides and keep warm, especially because she will be alone. Unless she manages to jump up on the bed lol.
Grooming – A Slicker Brush and small scissor nail clippers were recommended. Kittens don’t know to how to really retract their nails when playing with you, so if you don’t want to get cut, clipping ever other week would be wise hehe. As for the brushing, it’s good to start while they are kittens, so they get use to it. Siamese are short haired so they are pretty good at keeping clean, as most cats are.
Cat carrier – Get one she fits in when she is grown, so even though it’s large while a kitten, she will be fine in it when she’s an adult, and the rides to the Vet will be easier too.
So as you can see, we have some shopping to do. If anyone can give any advice, I would love it so much!! That’s it for now. Will post again soon.
