I am embarrassed for waiting so long to post. I know better than that. I need to change that. Today my cat Lily has a vet appointment. Last night we gave her 1 pill of gabapentin and about 2 hours later she was really out of it. I looked for her in the room where she usually naps/sleeps but she wasn’t there. Earlier I blocked the cat door to the basement, so she wouldn’t trip going down the stairs. I found her by the water fountain, apparently she needed water, I am guessing she had some. She was laying down just flat on the carpet, not loafing. I thought yeah the medicine must have hit her. So I picked her up. She usually protests when we try to pick her up, by meowing. No meow came out of her. So I gently picked her up and took her to the room. I placed her on a bag of shoes for some reason she wanted to lay on earlier, as it was down on the carpet. Then, I needed to put a blanket under her. So I grabbed her blanket and laid her down. She didn’t adjust or anything, she stayed exactly how I put her. I went to bed and turned on the camera in the room to watch them when we were gone. She didn’t move. I kept thinking, “Did I put her down comfortably enough?”, “Can she breathe okay?”
So, Lily’s vet visit was last week. Yeah, I didn’t finish my original post. The night before her visit, taking meds was fine. The next day, it didn’t go well. And she was super stressed at the vet. It broke my heart. I really wanted her to be very calm but it didn’t work out that way. The vet is so nice, and patient, did what she could. And we agreed to bring her back in a few months. I think we messed up when we didn’t pick her up and put her on the chair, that would have worked best. Because she wouldn’t be able to wiggle away. Anyway, what is done is done. We also agreed, that if we see she is not sedated, we cancel the appointment, instead of taking her and putting my sweet girl through a stressful appt that goes nowhere.
We have started her and Daisy on new dry food. Lily hasn’t really responded well to it. I am mixing her old dry food with the new in hopes she gets used to it. I think it will take a little time. And I just need to be patient with her. That is where we are with their health. Daisy had her appointment the month before, which went so-so as well. They both seem to fight a lot but now we have to be sure to get the pills down. We tried liquid but that was not good they just spit it out. At least with the pill, they just need to swallow it before it starts to dissolve and they taste the bitter medicine. We’ll see how that goes.
I have noticed Daisy, pooping in places other than the litter box. That is stressing me out. I need the litter box to be covered because she kicked dirt everywhere. But I may have to go back to an open box again. Sometimes when she doesn’t get her way she will do that. I sometimes think is she forgetting where to go? I try to keep that litter box clean. I clean it twice a day. I may have to check it more often, as I am sure they go more frequently sometimes.
So that is pretty much where we are with the girls. The weather has been crazyβsunny days, then rainy and cold. And we were in May. What is going on? I think I will end it here. I will post again and give more info on my weight loss. I am still on track, I am happy to say.
Anyway, that is all for now. I hope you all are doing well. Have a blessed day. And donβt forget!
For with God nothing shall be impossible.
