Cheap Backyard Additions to Raise Your Property Value

October 31, 2018 by Emily Leave a Comment

Making improvements to your house before you put it on the market is a great way to raise your property value if you make the right changes and additions that is. If you’re putting up your home among the homes for sale in Charlotte NC or any other city and don’t have a lot of extra cash, these cheap backyard additions may be one of the best ways to get the most bang for the buck. Landscape Lighting A survey conducted in 2016 by the National Association of Realtors and the National Association of Landscape Professionals, as reported by US News, revealed which projects offer homeowners the best ROI. An overall landscape upgrade topped came out at No. 1 at 105 percent. One of the least expensive additions you can make to your backyard landscaping is often referred to as “Malibu lighting.” It’s easy to install, runs on solar power and Continue Reading

I Sew Need To Use My Machine!

Brother Sewing Machine

I think that title is quite funny, pun intended :P On the serious side. I have had my sewing machine for a few years and I have to admit I have not really used it. I have a few reasons why. The lack of space in our last home. Now that we have moved to our new house. I want to break it out because I want to teach myself to sew holes in my fiances' dress shirts that have no buttons to hold down the collar and make wedding dress alterations for brides. As in the photo below.  came across this beautiful men’s V-Neck sweater, although the website lists it as a T-shirt with full sleeves, lol. Trust me it is a V-Neck Men’s sweater, and the quality is fantastic for $5.99, it has been through the wash, and came out as if it had just been bought, this is not an exaggeration. The only thing I noticed, is the sizing, I feel they run a bit smaller Continue Reading

Hello September! Fall is Almost Here!

September 3, 2018 by Emily Leave a Comment

Nineteen days until the official first day of Fall! Wow, already so hard to believe. Just today I was looking out the kitchen window into the backyard and I saw a few leaves fall. I turned to William and told him, "I just saw a few leaves fall". He says "bite your tongue".  Yeah, I don't think he is ready for Fall and to be quite honest, I'm not either. We are really enjoying our summer. During our Labor Day weekend, my honey as I like to refer to William spent some time doing some repairs to the house, not urgent repairs but things we wanted to fix, like our faucet in the bathroom needed replacing. We had recently had the bathroom redone, and by the way, it looks gorgeous. Back to the sink, yeah we used our old faucet and thought it was time for a new one, so a new went up. I like it, it matches the rest of the hardware in the Continue Reading

I Hate Being Hungry!

January 21, 2014 by Emily Leave a Comment

I think the worst part of a diet, is not the exercise, well I guess that is too lol but it’s adjusting to not eating, what you normally were eating, or should I say the portion size. The first few weeks, you go hungry. I hate that! I can’t even be near the kitchen, because I get hungry haha. I try to drink water when I get hungry, it helps fill me up. I’m trying to stay under 1,660 (corrected) calories a day, some may think that is a lot, but I think for myself it’s ideal at this time, perhaps later it will change. But as mentioned, it’s just those moments when I feel the hunger pangs. I can’t wait until I get passed that phase. As for exercise, it’s difficult for me, as my knees are bad. I injured one over 5 years ago, and have not been able to have a doctor look at it. It’s bad enough I just got a bill, that was not fully covered, Continue Reading
