Ketogenic Dieting

February 2, 2018 by Emily Leave a Comment

The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, adequate-protein, low-carbohydrate diet that in medicine is used primarily to treat difficult-to-control epilepsy in children. The diet forces the body to burn fats rather than carbohydrates. Normally, the carbohydrates contained in food are converted into glucose, which is then transported around the body and is particularly important in fueling brain-function. However, if there is little carbohydrate in the diet, the liver converts fat into fatty acids and ketone bodies. The ketone bodies pass into the brain and replace glucose as an energy source. An elevated level of ketone bodies in the blood, a state known as ketosis, leads to a reduction in the frequency of epileptic seizures. Almost half of children, and young people, with epilepsy who have tried some form of this diet saw the number of seizures Continue Reading

Christmas Wreath outside

I have always wanted to have a White Christmas, the fact we got some early snow this year I had high hopes. Christmas Eve comes along, no snow! I was bummed but thought okay next year. So when I wake up Christmas morning. My honey tells me, you might want to look outside!! I was, huh? What are you talking about? All confused right? I look through the curtain and right away I see it is SNOWING!! I thought OMG OMG we are having a White Christmas after all. I didn't take any pictures of the snow and all trust me I will bomb you with those later, but I am sharing the little white Christmas tree from Dollar Tree I had in my room, cute right :) A few days prior while shopping, it was snowing and they flakes were big. My honey says "It may not stick, the flakes are too big", he was right, it stopped snowing and yeah we had a little slush Continue Reading

New Year, New Trials and Tribulations, Let’s GO!

January 17, 2017 by Emily Leave a Comment

Last year was ok until I hit that bad bump. But it is 2017, Happy New Year, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas season, we did. I am excited, and I am back on my diet (way of life) lol. This is my 5th day. Saturday was my second weight-in, so I will show both in a moment, but I will tell you, I did gain weight, that is a no-brainer after my last post. So here we go (again)~! But I also lost weight, so Yay! I began writing this, last week so I do have an additional weigh-in. I thought about titling my weight status as I did before, but since I won't be doing one each week, I may just group a few. I really have so much going on, I have to organize my time better. It is so hard, though, I get sidetracked, and that throws me off. I managed 40 minutes of walking on the treadmill today lol, man I miss where I was before, I really Continue Reading

Failures, Realizations, & Try Again!

October 13, 2016 by Emily Leave a Comment

I am back again and giving this another whirl. So let me give you a little update since my last post. I realize it has been quite a few months. After my last post, I went into my 2nd 30-day set of juicing. From my last post you can tell it had been rough, even my fiance noticed I was depressed. So he suggested I have 1 meal a day, and I agreed. So, my 2nd 30 days began, and I looked forward to the meal. At this point, I was doing fine, until the 2nd week came around. I then, couldn't help, but snack on something here and there. By the end of the 2nd set of 30 days, I was at more than just one meal/ I didn't lose as much. What I did realize though, is that I didn't lose more than I thought I would in the first month, much less the 2nd month. Basically, what I am saying, I went through all that suffering, to have results that didn't Continue Reading

Holidays & Weight Management Update

January 8, 2016 by Emily Leave a Comment

So yeah I have seriously gone MIA, but have returned, have some good and bad news for you. Bad news: I gained weight lol, I blame myself and the holidays hehe. Good News: I have discovered serious juicing! I was doing fine with my eating up until after my birthday, then I slowly progressed to not eating as well, by the end of December I had already discovered juicing with Joe Cross after watching his 2 documentaries. Then found him on Facebook. He offered a 5-day plan for free, and we jumped on it, as in my fiance since he stopped smoking, has gained weight, and was never unhealthy, but it does cause me concern, so he will be trying the juicing, but not as intense as I will. So after joining his support group, and the challenge which will run for 5 days, I choose to go for 60, which is what he did and made it. If he can, I can Continue Reading
