I have been waiting to finally see a film about the Planet of the Apes, and finally one came out. I was very excited to see it, as were I'm sure thousands of people. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed, there was not as much interaction with the Apes as I had liked, but I had to keep reminding myself that this was how it all began, from the moment the ape was born, so even so, I was still excited, and happy to see it. I have made it part of my DVD collection! If you don't know what this film is about, here is the quick storyline. At the story's heart is Caesar (Andy Serkis), a chimpanzee who gains human-like intelligence and emotions from an experimental drug. Raised like a child by the drug's creator, Will Rodman (James Franco) and a primatologist Caroline Aranha (Freida Pinto), Caesar ultimately finds himself taken from the Continue Reading
Q is for Quarantine (2008) #AtoZChallenge
I can't believe it's getting closer to the end of the A to Z Challenge, I can't say I won't be happy it will be over, only because I have felt like I had to do this, because I did commit, and I try to finish what I start, so on we go! Today is Q, I choose Quarantine it's a remake of Spanish film-maker Jaume Balagueró's [Rec] (2007). Balagueró wrote the original script for [REC], which was then adapted for Quarantine by American film-makers Drew and John Eric Dowdle (also director). I can speak, read and write in Spanish, so I probably could follow along with the film, although I have to say that sometimes, there have been some films that were made in Spanish but subtitled in English that I just couldn't follow, as they spoke way too quick for my brain to catch up. So I try to stick to English speaking films :) So what's this film about Continue Reading
P is for Prometheus #AtoZChallenge
Ok so today, I picked the film Prometheus, even though it hasn't come out yet, it's due out June 8, 2012. I am really excited about this, I just seen a trailer on it, it's intriguing but it's not that trailer I'm going to share with you. This is one of those futuristic films, I just love them, it makes you think, wonder about possibilities. It does for me anyway. And there are so many possibilities, I mean seriously who knows what the future holds for us all. I am a Syfy girl, and this is the kind of films I like. It started as a script for couple of Alien movie prequels, but with writer Damon Lindelof it has changed into something different altogether. So what is this film about? A team of scientists journey through the universe on the spaceship "Prometheus" on a voyage to investigate Alien life forms. The team of scientists becomes Continue Reading
O is for Act of Valor #AtoZChallenge
I have been a long time fan of military/war films, I won't go as far as to say I like them all, but there are a good handful that I do. My AtoZ Challenge letter leads me to one, that is Act of Valor, now I know that Act of Valor does not start with an O but there is an O as the first letter of one of the words in the film lol. So that is what I'm going with, because I couldn't find something I wanted to share that started with an O. I'm lying I can find something, but some were pretty old, and this film popped out to me. I have not had a chance to see this film, but I know it will be a good film. When the rescue of a kidnapped CIA operative leads to the discovery of a deadly terrorist plot against the U.S., a team of SEALs is dispatched on a worldwide manhunt. As the valiant men of Bandito Platoon race to stop a coordinated attack that Continue Reading
N is for No Country for Old Men #AtoZChallenge
I'm posting a little later than usual, but it's because I am still getting over this cold borderline flu, so my letter for today's AtoZ Challenge is N, I choose the film No Country for Old Men. I remember seeing the previews about it, and well being that I am into action films, this was really something I knew I wanted to see. I was not disappointed with this film. Javier Bardem played this role so well, he was so ruthless and cold, when he killed, ok so what's this film about you ask? In rural Texas, welder and hunter Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) discovers the remains of several drug runners who have all killed each other in an exchange gone violently wrong. Rather than report the discovery to the police, Moss decides to simply take the two million dollars present for himself. This puts the psychopathic killer, Anton Chigurh (Javier Continue Reading
