How Fast Did 2019 Arrive?

January 24, 2019 by Emily Leave a Comment

I would say warp speed. I felt as if it was just Christmas, and now it is almost the end of January, wow! Happy New Year! I hope your holiday was fun and memorable. I had a nice Christmas with my honey and his family, and then here at home with just us and the girls (our cats: Lily & Daisy). We had some snowfall last week, not a lot but it did make it very cold. Today is warmer so it is melting away. However, it is super windy and it does cause me concern. The last time we had strong winds a tree fell on our deck, and we would hate for that to happen again. Oh please NO!! I decided to remove the contact form from this website because I continued to get a lot of soliciting emails, and I really don't want anything to do with them. Most of them were obvious they didn't even check the content lol. There is an email that a visitor Continue Reading

Ketogenic Dieting

February 2, 2018 by Emily Leave a Comment

The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, adequate-protein, low-carbohydrate diet that in medicine is used primarily to treat difficult-to-control epilepsy in children. The diet forces the body to burn fats rather than carbohydrates. Normally, the carbohydrates contained in food are converted into glucose, which is then transported around the body and is particularly important in fueling brain-function. However, if there is little carbohydrate in the diet, the liver converts fat into fatty acids and ketone bodies. The ketone bodies pass into the brain and replace glucose as an energy source. An elevated level of ketone bodies in the blood, a state known as ketosis, leads to a reduction in the frequency of epileptic seizures. Almost half of children, and young people, with epilepsy who have tried some form of this diet saw the number of seizures Continue Reading

Failures, Realizations, & Try Again!

October 13, 2016 by Emily Leave a Comment

I am back again and giving this another whirl. So let me give you a little update since my last post. I realize it has been quite a few months. After my last post, I went into my 2nd 30-day set of juicing. From my last post you can tell it had been rough, even my fiance noticed I was depressed. So he suggested I have 1 meal a day, and I agreed. So, my 2nd 30 days began, and I looked forward to the meal. At this point, I was doing fine, until the 2nd week came around. I then, couldn't help, but snack on something here and there. By the end of the 2nd set of 30 days, I was at more than just one meal/ I didn't lose as much. What I did realize though, is that I didn't lose more than I thought I would in the first month, much less the 2nd month. Basically, what I am saying, I went through all that suffering, to have results that didn't Continue Reading

Happy Valentine’s Day and OH MY GOSH!!!

February 14, 2016 by Emily Leave a Comment

Happy-Valentine-Day

Has it really been that long? Wow I have kept myself so busy, that I don't post in my blog. OK well with new year, new changes, and that includes this blog. I will have to take time out to blog on it, what is the point of having it, if I don't do that. Things change in my life, and I need, no I want to post about it. If only for my own reading pleasure when I am a little old lady and I want to reminisce, oh wait I am old, but not a little old lady yet hehe. So Happy Valentine's Day! So I am doing good on my weight-loss journey, I have to admit, the juicing I have been doing is very hard. I have been tempted many times, and probably always will be. I try to make it up, by juicing a full week, then going to one meal a day and juicing. I had juiced only for a month, 30 days. Now I am on my 2nd set, and have slipped, but determined to do Continue Reading

Hit my 100 lbs milestone, yay!

May 3, 2015 by Emily Leave a Comment

Let me start by apologising. I had gotten so busy, and didn't have time to come and post updates, for anyone who cares *rolls eyes* LOL. This is more for me than anything or anyone else. I have been keeping up with my weight loss, as you can see from my title. I have weighed in every Saturday since I started. But it is for my own record as well. I feel horrible not updating, but I am happy I am keeping up with my diet. I have had some struggles, some failures, and some triumphs, and today, I finally, even though it is 3 months later than I had planned, I reached my 100 lb milestone, one of two I hope to reach, I WILL reach. This all has been a bit scary. When I was younger I ended up being diagnosed with an eating disorder. It got pretty serious, and I ended up going to one of those eating disorder treatment facilities to get help. I Continue Reading
