Y is for Young Adult #AtoZChallenge

April 28, 2012 by Emily Leave a Comment

Woo getting closer to the end, I keep saying that don’t I? Well it’s just to remind you I won’t be doing any films unless it’s something I really really want to share, then I will. Anyway, yesterday I had said that I wouldn’t post about a film I didn’t like, so I decided I would, especially because it was hard for me to find a film starting with a Y and I had put this film on my list in case I couldn’t come up with anything else.

I am a long time fan of Charlize Theron, I love that woman to bits, I tell you. And I always, always watch her films. Well I watched Young Adult a few months ago, and I wasn’t happy with what I seen. I was so very very disappointed in the film. I actually thought it would be on the comedy side, but instead it was on the depressing side. I was fooled lol. But as I said, I watch anything she is in, because I am such a big fan, even if I don’t like the role she plays, which I didn’t in this particular film. Although on her defense I have to say that, it’s good for her to do roles in which we (the fans) wouldn’t normally see her in or like her in, so yeah. So what’s this film about.

Mavis Gary (Charlize Theron), once the high school ‘It Girl’, now an alcoholic divorcee who writes a soon to be canceled young adult fiction series, takes the decision to return to her childhood home in Minnesota. There she embarks on a plan to win back her former sweetheart, Buddy (Patrick Wilson). The fact that Buddy is now married with a baby doesn’t dissuade her. Along the way, she forms a bond with Matt Freehauf (Patton Oswalt), another former classmate, who has been left disabled by a beating he took from a bunch of jocks.

Ok there we go that concludes this edition of the A to Z Challenge, you all have a lovely weekend, be safe out there, and see you on Monday for the final edition of the A to Z! TTFN
