R is for Rise of the Planet of the Apes #AtoZChallenge

April 20, 2012 by Emily Leave a Comment

I have been waiting to finally see a film about the Planet of the Apes, and finally one came out. I was very excited to see it, as were I'm sure thousands of people. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed, there was not as much interaction with the Apes as I had liked, but I had to keep reminding myself that this was how it all began, from the moment the ape was born, so even so, I was still excited, and happy to see it. I have made it part of my DVD collection! If you don't know what this film is about, here is the quick storyline. At the story's heart is Caesar (Andy Serkis), a chimpanzee who gains human-like intelligence and emotions from an experimental drug. Raised like a child by the drug's creator, Will Rodman (James Franco) and a primatologist Caroline Aranha (Freida Pinto), Caesar ultimately finds himself taken from the Continue Reading

Q is for Quarantine (2008) #AtoZChallenge

April 19, 2012 by Emily 1 Comment

I can't believe it's getting closer to the end of the A to Z Challenge, I can't say I won't be happy it will be over, only because I have felt like I had to do this, because I did commit, and I try to finish what I start, so on we go! Today is Q, I choose Quarantine it's a remake of Spanish film-maker Jaume Balagueró's [Rec] (2007). Balagueró wrote the original script for [REC], which was then adapted for Quarantine by American film-makers Drew and John Eric Dowdle (also director). I can speak, read and write in Spanish, so I probably could follow along with the film, although I have to say that sometimes, there have been some films that were made in Spanish but subtitled in English that I just couldn't follow, as they spoke way too quick for my brain to catch up. So I try to stick to English speaking films :) So what's this film about Continue Reading

P is for Prometheus #AtoZChallenge

April 18, 2012 by Emily 1 Comment

Ok so today, I picked the film Prometheus, even though it hasn't come out yet, it's due out June 8, 2012. I am really excited about this, I just seen a trailer on it, it's intriguing but it's not that trailer I'm going to share with you. This is one of those futuristic films, I just love them, it makes you think, wonder about possibilities. It does for me anyway. And there are so many possibilities, I mean seriously who knows what the future holds for us all. I am a Syfy girl, and this is the kind of films I like. It started as a script for couple of Alien movie prequels, but with writer Damon Lindelof it has changed into something different altogether. So what is this film about? A team of scientists journey through the universe on the spaceship "Prometheus" on a voyage to investigate Alien life forms. The team of scientists becomes Continue Reading

N is for No Country for Old Men #AtoZChallenge

April 16, 2012 by Emily 1 Comment

I'm posting a little later than usual, but it's because I am still getting over this cold borderline flu, so my letter for today's AtoZ Challenge is N, I choose the film No Country for Old Men. I remember seeing the previews about it, and well being that I am into action films, this was really something I knew I wanted to see. I was not disappointed with this film. Javier Bardem played this role so well, he was so ruthless and cold, when he killed, ok so what's this film about you ask? In rural Texas, welder and hunter Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) discovers the remains of several drug runners who have all killed each other in an exchange gone violently wrong. Rather than report the discovery to the police, Moss decides to simply take the two million dollars present for himself. This puts the psychopathic killer, Anton Chigurh (Javier Continue Reading

L is for The Lake House #AtoZChallenge

April 13, 2012 by Emily 9 Comments

So today is the letter L, which will be for the film by the name The Lake House, this is one of those romance films, and I just adore Sandra Bullock, I watch just about everything she stars in. This is a really sweet film, and personally it just makes your mind wander. Can this really happen? What if it did? I think lots of people think those type of things. This film is a 2006 remake of the South Korean film by the name Il Mare, Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock star as Alex Wyler and Kate Forster. What's this film about? An independent-minded doctor (Sandra Bullock) who once occupied an unusual lakeside home begins exchanging love letters with its newest resident, a frustrated architect (Keanu Reeves). When they discover that they're actually living two years apart, they must try to unravel the mystery behind their extraordinary Continue Reading
