It’s Been A Minute

January 26, 2026 by Emily Leave a Comment

It has actually been longer than a minute lol. But you know how that goes. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s Eve. We stayed at home, where we are happy with each other and our furbabies. We had an appointment for someone to come and install a water filtration unit, and it was cancelled due to snow, but that snow was nothing like what we had overnight. We seriously had from 12 to 18 inches of snow. We cleared the driveway this morning.

Last night, my outside semi-feral furbaby, Lilo, the tortie girl. Decided she needed to go potty, and when she jumped down, she didn’t realize how deep the snow was. She didn’t return. I really wish she had returned. I know she could have made the jump up to her house. So she stayed under the deck, and this morning, she was gone. Nowhere to be found. I am worried sick. The snow is so deep in the back where she usually walks to the forest or the neighbors and back, but the snow is deep, so I don’t think she wants to make the trek. The thing is. I don’t know what direction she went in, and if she is stuck somewhere, and I can’t get to her. As I mentioned, I am worried sick about her, and Mittens too, he has a bad leg, and would not be able, at least I don’t think he would be able to talk through the snow. I know tomorrow it will be more compacted, but I plan on going into the driveway and digging out a path to the compost, to the firepit, uncovering the firepit, and around to the side of the house, the paths that they usually take.

So I assigned myself that task for tomorrow. And even if she/they show up, I will still dig out a path for them. I will photograph before and after. I want them to have a way to the deck and out to the woods where they do their business. I pray they are safe, unharmed, wherever they decided to hunker down. It is still snowing a bit right now, not heavy, but it isn’t melting, and it’s going to be cold tonight too, that’s another worry I have. It is currently 18° and snowing lightly and a bit windy, but accumulating. It is going to be in the teens tonight and early in the morning, single digits. Gosh, I am even more worried now, because the thought of her being out there, when she is used to having a warm, heated house. I’ve cried a bit here and there with worry. They must be hungry. Oh, I pray the snow stops, and the sun comes out tomorrow to help melt some of the snow.

Ever since this morning, when I didn’t see they didn’t return, I have been so worried, I have not wanted to think of anything else but them. I really don’t care what people say about cats and stray cats; they are living, breathing beings as well. They deserve so much love. And if someone doesn’t like cats, well, move on, and don’t worry about them. I really dislike those who abuse cats and dogs. There is so much about that I dislike, but I am leaving it in the good Lord’s hands. Their time will come. I can’t really talk about anything else. I worry so much about my outside ferals. I regularly feed them. I use my own money, I don’t ask anyone for money, if I ever had to, sure I would, but right now I am doing what I can for them. I love them: Lilo, Mittens, Boots, and the mini panther I haven’t given a name to. Dear Lord, please bring them back safely.

Well, that is all for me. I will see you in my next post. Stay warm and safe. Have a blessed day. And don’t forget!

For with God nothing shall be impossible.
Luke 1:37 NKJV

Until next time
Emily
