Thats right, my downstairs neighbor “Robert” is really a prick in all honesty. He is a drunk, and has not respect for anyone he lives hear. We had a minor problem recently at the flat. When we were first here, the downstair neighbor left us a welcome letter/leak problem. And up until today it had been a problem. Well, what happened is, this building was restored, beautiful old victorian house, just absolutely gorgeous. We loved it, heck thats why we are here. Anyway, the letter, stated there was a bit of a leak problem coming from our bathroom. So we decided to try to get a hold of the builders and see what they did wrong. Well trying to get a hold of that person was a nightmare. So Robert decided to take it into his own hands, and call a plumber, which was cool, I made myself available for this person to come in and check on things. So that was taken care of. Problem was that they wanted to charge an outrageous price. So again he takes it into his own hands, and goes into his storage area, where above that lays our bathroom, wel lthe botton of it that is, and he tinkers trying to find out what and where the problem lays, again thats great. Finally nothing is heard from him for awhile, and we decide to get a hold of the builders. I finally got in contact with him, said he would come out andcheck, but made a big stink about it, I really didnt care, but I informed dear old Robert that he would be here, and would want to go into his flat and check where the leak is at, so he can see where it may be going.
Ok Patrick (the builder) shows up, and he comes and rings our doorbell saying that Robert is not answer, keep in mind Robert has a drinking problem and won’t anser the door if hes been drinking and is in a drunk sleep. Well sure enough that happened, we tried tapping his window, calling, knocking on his door, rining his door bell and nothing, and was I furious! I finally said hell with it, he will have to sort this out himself now. And a few weeks later he finally began to call, to see if we can let him in so he can check something, since I am not the property owner, I said no sorry, can’t until the property owner is here. Well, he said then can you just do this and this to see if that is what is making the leak. So I said sure thing. I thought I did what he said to do, but what we discovered is he didnt explain himself right, and just recently we were both here, so my partner allowed him in to fix the thing. Ok so he called me and said “Emily come look this is what I meant”, when I greeted him at the door, he breath stunk like alcohol, like he’s been at the bottle the night before. So after he did that, he went off, and we went about our business, this was within the past few days.
Last night I was tidying up the kitchen, and we have this thick heavy wooden cutting board, and I was drying it, and it slipped through my hand and fell partially on my foot (ouch!) and partially on the floor, well it was heavy enough it made a loud bang! Not to mention how painful it was when it hit part of my foot. Haha, so what happens next is the phone rings and who is it? Robert, lol. He asked me with this fake concern in his voice, “are you ok” I said “yes, i just dropped a cutting board on the floor” then he proceeded to tell me if I had showered that day, I’m guessing to see if that is why no leak has occured, and I said yes earlier in the day, then he said oh good no leak, I said great, then suddenly he hangs up, he’s always been rude like that. Today I get a call from him again, asking me if I was capable of walking to the bathroom, and turning on the water to see if it leaks, and I asked him, you told me last night it was ok, no leak, and he just continued to repeat the same phrase to me “are you capable of walking to the bathroom and turning the water on” ugh, I was hating him more already, I finally said ok, bye and I hung up. So I turned on the water, let it run for about 5mins or so, then turned it off, and he called again, and said no leak, I said great, and I can tell he was drinking because of his slurred speech, and he said something that I didn’t understand, so I said “excuse me” and he said “exactly”, then just hung up, I’m thinking “WTF”, so I just blew that off, and then not a minute later the phone rings again and this time I didnt bother to answer cause I knew it would be him, just calling to be rude.
That guy has issues, and unfortunately he is our downstair neighbor. Gosh I hope I don’t have to speak to him or anything again, good thing is, our entrances are on different sides of the building so I never have to run into him, yay! Ohgosh I tell you, isn’t it fun to have those quirky neighbors. Well that is my rant for today.

Thankfully it appears that you do not have a leak anymore, anyways. That sure seems like quite the hassle, however, just to find out if there is still a leak. You neighbour doesn’t sound immensely friendly, which is not a plus at all. We have wonderful neighbours where we live, and it really makes the neighbourhood more pleasant.
You’ll just have to continue ignoring the phone calls, it probably won’t be too difficult.
I sure do hope nothing else comes of this leak.
Emerald.
BTW: Just want to inform you before hand that on Friday will be the 2 week mark before I leave for London. There will be 10 days (possibly a few more depending how I feel) where I will definately not be able to update the website, as far as I know. I doubt the wireless will be able to connect itself in London, but if it is able to then I will surely get on my laptop ASAP and post about my trip. I just wanted to give you a heads up, just in case you were wondering where the hell I went. Thanks Emily.)
