For the last two weeks, really since May 2023, we have had a bad internet connection. But the last two weeks have been horrible, most of the time seemed like downtime. It got to a point I needed to call Verizon and find out what was happening. I tried numerous times to restart the router and troubleshoot via the Verizon app which they recommend. Then I tried a chat session, the first time we got disconnected due to doing it via my computer, I should have known better. But then I tried again via computer, and the same thing happened. I was pretty upset. I finally decided to try the chat session via my browser on my phone and have it on data only. Well, when the rep needed me to go to my browser and do a speed test, we got disconnected. I was fuming by this time, but trying to keep my cool. I then decided to call and went through everything I did the first 2 times. On the last chat session, we were almost to the point of the rep sending out another router before we were cut off. During the phone call I told the rep everything that happened, she did numerous tests and finally came to the conclusion that she would send a new router.
We got the router that Saturday which was sent overnight, as I talked to her on Friday the 21st of July. So I set up the new router, had to reconnect all our devices, and then the exact same thing happened again. I thought to myself, “No, way, really?”, I was just mentally exhausted. I then got back on the phone on that Monday and was on the phone for about an hour if not a bit more. Doing the same things troubleshooting on their end. After going back and forth, the Rep, Amy, said she would arrange for a Tech to come out on Wednesday, 26th of July.
So here is Wednesday, I am cleaning around the house, and the Tech, comes early, 2 hours early. Yes, that was good, but I was still doing things, so I was a bit annoyed but put that aside, as I wanted this internet issue to be fixed ASAP. That tech spent about 2.5 hours troubleshooting, talking to another tech on the phone, and they finally came down to the realization, the issue is not from our end, it is from their end, and they needed to fix it. Apparently, it was affecting other Verizon customers as well.
My question is, “Why didn’t they catch this at their end?”. Don’t they have some kind of notification when something is going wrong on their end? The funny thing is that same day there was a global outage with Verizon that may or may not have something to do with it, as I will never know. But the global outage was fixed early in the morning before the Tech arrived here.
So, in the end, we got a new router and a new ONT. So our service should be working perfectly. The first two days were a little wonky, but now it is great. I can get back to doing what I need to do online, without being kicked off.
This is not really why I have not posted an update on my weight-loss progress. I will be doing it in another post. This week however, my husband has had a bad tension headache, which has affected his mood obviously, it also has affected his sleep, his neck muscle is very tender as is one side of his head. It breaks my heart to see him going through this. It has almost been a week. I told him, if it continues until the end of the week, you need to go see a doctor. My heart breaks for him and leaves me feeling helpless.
The last few weeks have been pretty hot and humid here. Just the last two to three days we have had temperatures in the low 80s and low humidity, which has made it so nice. Having the windows open is nice as well, the cool breeze comes in and cools off the house. I am happy for my feral furbabies, they also get a break from the heat. Poor things can’t sit in an air-conditioned room like we can, and that also breaks my heart. I put ice in their water every day, and even though they are not around when I do it, I feel better putting ice in their bowls, as they may be watching from a bush or something and I just don’t see them.
Our deck kitty, Pepper, hangs out on the deck or under it, and she too gets a bowl with ice water in it. She is really a sweet kitty, but I think she is a bit territorial, as she seems to want to go after Lilo, and I don’t like that, because Lilo is such a chill cat and I love that about him and Momo. But I think Lilo is going to turn out to be a girl and not a boy. I am not 100%, it is so hard to tell as he walks around with his/her tail down, and I can’t get close enough to look, but I am curious. I’m told tortie cats are usually girls.
Then I started to think, is this why Pepper is kind of going after Lilo, trying to intimidate him/her? I have not seen Pepper do it toward Momo, and he is definitely a boy. I want Pepper to be a chill cat too. I try to keep her on the deck, and she does stay in that area. She has been around since I believe April 2023, she started on the side of the house, and she made her way to the front. She is very friendly, sits with us on the deck furniture, she loves her head petted a lot. I am worried about her now, as I noticed a balding spot on her back, and my husband pointed out she is grooming herself there a lot. I don’t know what to do. I need to check the internet, as to why this is happening to her. This is the sweetheart, Pepper.
I wouldn’t say she is my cat, but she does hang out here a lot, 99% of the time to be honest. Last month, I tried to get someone to come down to try to get her. Find her a forever home so she can be happy. She seems happy here, but I personally think she would make a great house cat for someone. Once I get attached it is hard to let go. But I need to make the effort to get the same people to come out. They didn’t come out because the time they wanted to was not ideal for us, it was just a bad time. After that, they didn’t contact me anymore which really bummed me out, and I have not reached out to them either. I think it is time though, because I don’t want her to be stuck outside when winter rolls around. As it is I have the other 3 that I worry about constantly during the winter season. I think that is all for now. I have reviews to write.
Until next time. Have a great week, and don’t forget.
